My apologies, in the post “What’s happening in Lakeshore Woods?“, I reported that the Board had purchased the Nautical Blvd school site. In fact, on February 3rd the Board directed staff to purchase the Lakeshore Woods Elementary School Site from Metrus Developments. This transaction has yet to be consummated.

The Lakeshore Woods community is keen in knowing what is the status of the Lakeshore Woods school site. Please provide a brief summary.
Good evening Lakeshore Woods,
There has been no change in the status of the public elementary school site since the summer. Please have a look at the post Special Board Meeting – Boundary Reviews, Audited Financials, 30 Nov 2011, or in that same post Report 11175: “Accommodation Pressures and School Boundary Review Initiatives” for insights into the process for approving the construction of a new elementary school.
The 2012 Long-Term Accommdation Plan (LTAP) was presented to the Board at our January 11, 2012 meeting, and the target date for a new school in Bronte, if approved through the Program and Accommodation Review process, has been pushed back to 2014. In fact, all of the school board’s capital projects have been delayed as a result of the economic cricis. Of our three high priority construction projects for the current school year, only two were approved by the Ministry of Education. Funding from the Province is likely to be even tighter in 2012-2013, and further delays in new school construction in Halton and across Ontario shouldn’t be a surprise.
