Halton Board appoints new Superintendent of Education
Patricia Dyson joins Halton District School Board team, November 1, 2007
At its regular meeting of Wednesday, October 17, 2007, trustees with the Halton District School Board announced the appointment of Patricia Dyson as Superintendent of Education, effective November 1, 2007.
This latest administrative appointment completes the complement of superintendents on the senior administrative team, particularly those responsible for School Operations.
Following the retirement of Al Greyson earlier this year as superintendent for the Student Services portfolio, the Board approved the assignment of Kathy Schaffer to the Student Services role meaning she vacated her role on the School Operations team (responsible for the Oakville family of schools). Tricia Dyson’s appointment will mean the reassignment of a superintendent to this family of schools as part of the School Operations team.
Tricia comes to the Halton District School Board from the Simcoe County Board where she has served in a number of roles including:
- Principal of Special Education – South West Area. In this portfolio she carried responsibility for leading principals and staff in providing programs and supports for special needs students. Her responsibilities also included Leadership Development programs for school administrators;
- Principal of West Bayfield Elementary (K-8) School;
- Education Officer with the Ministry of Education, Curriculum and Assessment Policy Branch. In this role she carried responsibility in the areas of Student Success initiatives, Locally Developed Compulsory Credit courses, and targeted supports for principals and vice principals.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me,” says Tricia Dyson. “I look forward to becoming a part of the Halton District School Board team.”
“We look forward to welcoming Tricia to our Senior Administrative team,” says Wayne Joudrie, Director of Education. “With leadership strengths in school environments, she will be an asset to the Halton District School Board.”
